When I first got married, I was broke. Student loans stacked to the ceiling. A lousy little apartment that filled with fumes every time the guy in the garage below us started his car. Bills I couldn't pay. I got so used to it that I'd throw out anything in the mail that didn't say "going to collections."

But I knew I wanted more.

So at 27, my husband and I had an idea. We helped pioneer an industry called Recruitment Process Outsourcing, back when almost no one was doing it. We printed our first flyers and brochures on a borrowed printer we'd squeezed into our walk-in closet.

We knew nothing. Nothing about HR, nothing about running a company, nothing about hiring people. We couldn't even get the phone system to work. We figured all of it out the hard way.

Alone. No help, no mentor, no money.

Two years later, we were leaders in that industry. We bought an office building to hold hundreds of employees. We served clients in 44 countries, with offices in the UK, Switzerland, and across the US. That little idea from a closet became a business worth over a hundred million dollars.

And it was only the first thing I built.

I'm not telling you this to impress you. I'm telling you because I want you to hear the part that actually matters. We did all of it with no one in our corner. No one showing us the way. So imagine what you could do if you weren't doing it alone.

Sometimes you don't need another course.

You don't need another download sitting unopened in your inbox. You need a person. Someone who has already done it, who can look at where you are and say start here, then here, then here.

That's what I do now. Not from a stage. Beside you.

The honest part

You might be thinking one of these. Let me answer you.

"I'm not good with technology."

Neither was I, and most of the women I work with aren't either. The tech is the part I make simple. You will never be left staring at a screen wondering what to click.

"I don't even know what business to start."

That's the most common place people begin with me, not the exception. Half the work is helping you see what you already have that people will pay for.

"I don't have time. My kids need me."

I built everything I have while raising mine. You don't grow a business by burning your life down. You grow it in the small pockets of time you already have, with a plan that fits around your family instead of replacing it.

"I think it might be too late for me."

It isn't. Some of the women I'm proudest of started in their 50s and 60s. Your experience is an asset, not a disadvantage.

"I don't have money to invest."

You can begin with very little. You need direction first, so you stop wasting the little you have on things that don't move you forward.
